Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club offers instruction for all levels of the game. Whether you are an accomplished player or new to the game, our PGA professional staff is here to assist with you at accomplishing your golfing goals. The Staff takes pride in our abilities of what to teach students and the facilities we have on site to help us. We will also customize any individual lesson, playing lesson, or group lesson to the needs of our guest.

Mike Humphrey, PGA

Mike has played the game since he was 5 years old and taken lessons from many professionals through his playing career. Mike earned his PGA membership in 1998 and continues to keep that membership current. Mike’s teaching experience includes 20 years of working with students on an individual basis, a short stint working with Golf Digest assisting with schools back in 1996 and attending SWPGA teaching summits on a regular basis. His professional teaching career began under the supervision of Troon Golf and Golf Digest instructor Tim Mahoney and was fostered through the years of studying video and multiple teaching philosophies. Mike does not believe in teaching golf in any one way. He believes that the teacher student relationship is the most important factor in learning. If you like and communicate well with your teacher, you will stick with him or her, and learn. Ultimately, that relationship, assuming you have chosen a professional who knows the tendencies of the golf swing, will make you better at the game! |

Shawn Lasher, PGA

Shawn has been a member of the Dove Valley team since 2003, working his way up through the ranks up to Head Professional. Shawn began his teaching career in 1999 in Minnesota and moved to Arizona after graduating from Iowa State. Shawn was elected to the PGA in May of 2009 and is continuing his education to become a Certified Professional in Instruction. Shawn believes a swing must be tailored to an individual while keeping the motion as simple as possible. Students, as well as some teachers, become too focused on swing mechanics. The golf swing is a fluid motion of body parts working together to achieve the same goal. By using specific drills modified for each student, Shawn is able to improve shot quality and enjoyment of the game without dwelling on mechanics. By letting go of the physical control of the shot, the student may begin to trust their ability and ultimately reach their maximum potential. Shawn is certified by Titleist for club fitting for irons and woods. Shawn ended the 2009 Southwest Section PGA tournament season ranked 13th in the Section. |

Darth Bennett, PGA

Darth has been playing and competing in golf for 43 years, starting at the age of 8 competing in the Northwest Kansas Junior Golf Association, He then moved on to High School Golf. After returning stateside after serving four years in the United States Navy. Darth competed as an amateur for 15 years while operating his business as a General Contractor in North Wisconsin. His love of golf led him to teach and coach his children to play golf as soon as they were able. He also taught many friends and family while realizing from their feedback that he had a real knack for communicating the fundamentals as well as the Art and Science of the golf swing to his students.
Darth moved into the golf business in 1994 while building the Joel Goldstrand, Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course in the North Woods of Wisconsin. Turning Professional in 1995 while managing the Forest Ridges golf course as Head Golf Professional. Under the watchful eye of former PGA tour player Ken Ellsworth Darth refined his teaching skills as well as becoming a certified Natural Golf-Single Plane Instructor. Darth attained membership with the PGA of America in 1999 while working as Head Golf Professional for Rancho Manana Golf Club in Cave Creek AZ before making the move to Dove Valley Ranch in the fall of 2001 teaching private lessons as well as Golf Schools for the past 10 years. While continuing to evolve with the coaching and teaching summits taught by some of the best Golf Instructors in the business. Darth is well versed in the conventional golf swing as well as the single plane Natural Golf swing, made famous by one of the purest ball strikers ever Moe Norman.
